It is with immense gratitude we announce that LiveMetta has been named by Inc. Magazine as one of the 5000 fastest growing private companies in the US, and one of the 500 fastest growing companies in California.
A Story and a Thank You from Our Founders – Please Read!
To our LiveMetta Community,
In light of this recognition, we wanted to share a few words and we hope you’ll find it worth reading, starting with a quick story.
In July 2020 we were four months into the pandemic, the shutdown of the world as we know it, and for us, the closure of our studios.
Faced with doubts about how long we could afford our mortgage (after having quit our careers just the year before to start LiveMetta), we made the difficult decision to sell our “forever” home.
In doing so we faced the reality of two adults in their mid-to-late-30’s, with a baby, moving in with Chris’s parents, with little to no certainty for the future.
Two weeks later, with our daughter not even a year old, we found out that Tee was unexpectedly pregnant again.
Rather than the feelings of elation you’d hope you’d feel as a parent with this kind of news, the overwhelming feeling for us was fear.
How are we going to get through this? How were we going bring another child into this chaotic world when we were struggling as much as we were? How can we keep it all together when nothing feels safe?
At the same time other questions persisted: How long could our business survive? What would it mean if it didn’t for those that we employ (and their families)? How long could we make payroll?
Fast forward three years and we’re now on the receiving end of being recognized as one of the 5000 fastest growing companies in the US – not to mention also being proud parents to two wonderful children.
It’s truly hard to fathom.
So how did we get from that place in July 2020 to where we are now? The answer is simple – through love.
We know our name is unique. LiveMetta. “Metta,” an Eastern word for an Eastern practice to cultivate loving-kindness is not commonly known. But it’s teachings are our founding principles as a company.
Placing love and kindness at the center of we do is how we survived, how we rebuilt, and how we continue to grow.
Love brought clarity to our work and galvanized our teams.
Your love for the studios, for each other, and for our teachers / instructors / staff, carried the day and got us to where we are, and it will never be lost on us.
Our mission, in it’s simplest form, is to spread love. Through movement, through community, and through shared experiences.
We hope everyone that works with us and everyone that walks through our doors feels that as best we can. We acknowledge the reality of today’s world – in the most basic sense, everyone is struggling (most of us silently) – and we want you to know that we’re here for you through it all.
Whether you’re in the studio with us every day, or if you attend a class far less often than you’d like to because of, well, life, or even if you just occasionally read our emails, the feeling is the same:
We wish you happiness, health, safety, and peace every step of the way, both inside and outside of the studio. We love you.
We didn’t set out on this journey for accolades or awards – far from it. But making this list gives us an opportunity to “thank you” to so many people, that are a more important part of this story than we are.
Thank you to our teachers and instructors. You are the studios. You trusted us when we were brand new and (now we can admit), really had no idea what we were doing. You continue to lead, grow, and heal our communities through your love, knowledge, and dedication every day.
Thank you to our front desk and studio management teams. Thank you for approaching everything you do and every interaction you have, however difficult, with kindness and grace. Thank you for taking pride in what you do and looking forward to, and navigating through, new challenges.
Thank you to our more senior managers and staff. Thank you for your passion, creativity, vision, and incredible hard work. It’s been our greatest joy to be in the foxhole with you.
Lastly, thank you to our clients and students. Thank you for choosing our studios, among many other options, to be part of your life. Thank you for your positivity, respect, and support. Thank you for being patient through COVID closures, renovations, schedule changes, new teachers/instructors, and even software changes.
Thank you for the words of encouragement during our most challenging times (they meant way more than you know) and for the honest feedback you share so we can continue to improve.
To everyone reading this, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our lives. We promise to always do our best to lead with love and we’ll continue to have faith that everything else will take care of itself.
With Loving-Kindness,
The Farnsworths
Chris, Bobby (2 years old), Tee, and Yvy (4 years old)
