What is Pilates?

Pilates is a mind-body exercise system created by Joseph Pilates that improves strength, control, and flexibility for all fitness levels.

Joseph Pilates first developed the method in England during World War I to help injured soldiers recover and move better. When he moved to New York, dancers began practicing his method, then called Contrology, to build strength, prevent injury, and maintain long, lean muscles.
